Oral Hygiene

Effective oral hygiene, including flossing daily and brushing twice daily is important to keep your teeth and gums healthy, along with regular dental appointments. We recommend that you visit your dentist every 6 months to ensure your teeth remain healthy and to detect and treat any potential problems before they escalate.

Research shows that poor oral health can contribute to the development of heart disease and increase the risk of stroke. It can also pose a serious threat to those with health problems such as diabetes, respiratory disease or osteoporosis.1

Aside from proven general health being affected by poor oral hygiene this can also lead to gum disease, or gingivitis, which can cause periodontitis if not treated by your dentist. Periodontitis involves an inflammation of the gums and bone loss, and may result in tooth loss if untreated. At Bligh Park Dental we make it our priority to ensure you and your family’s oral health is at its very best, paying particular attention to preventative care and maintaining optimal oral health for all our patients.

At Bligh Park Dental we are very fortunate to have in our team a dental therapist and 2 dental hygienists who work alongside our dentists. Therapists and hygienists are specifically trained in the care of oral hygiene. They focus on the treatment and prevention of gum disease and on maintaining a healthy mouth.

If it’s been a while since you checked in with the dentist, or if you have any concerns, contact our experienced staff to arrange a consultation. .
